My Pretty Posies

Tamara Benton
Saturday - February 18, 25 & March 4
1:00pm – 3:00pm
Intermediate
$50.00
This hat, worked in sport weight superwash yarn, is a good introduction to colorwork stranding. Fair Isle knitting is commonly worked on fine woolen yarn with small needles, but the techniques required for My Pretty Posies are the same, though using heavier yarn and larger needles. Two colors per row, with repetitive stitch patterns, are used throughout the construction. For anyone wanting to learn Fair Isle techniques but wary of fine yarns and small needles, this class is for you.

In this class we will cover reading patterns and charts and help you understand how to turn the words on the page into a knitted item. Bring any patterns you have questions about, but I will have samples to read through and describe.

This cowl has a great shape. The bandana style allows it to tuck into your coat to keep you warm while not having much bulk behind your neck. The lace pattern is basic and fun to knit. Challenge yourself to learn something new with this gorgeous knit.

Raven's Promenade

Tamara Benton
Saturday - May 6, 13 & 20
1:00pm – 3:00pm
Intermediate
$50.00
If you are looking for a challenge this winter, Raven’s Promenade will provide that opportunity. Several new techniques will be introduced to improve your knitting skills. The hat brim is worked in-the-round, beginning with a twined herringbone edge, followed by a diamond border with centered beads. Switching to back-and-forth knitting, the raven motifs are worked using intarsia, which is a colorwork technique that involves knitting with blocks of color rather than stranding, and mattress stitch is used to close the gap from working back-and-forth. The crown returns to the in-the round diamond stitch pattern. A liner is optional.
