This class may be for you if you’ve always wanted to learn how to quilt, but you didn’t know where to start. In this four-session class, you’ll learn quilting terminology, how to choose fabric, and techniques for basic rotary cutting and fabric piecing. There’s some piecing homework between the third & fourth sessions, so we will skip a week before meeting for the final class. By the end of the fourth session, you should have a completed quilt top. This class will help you build a solid foundation of knowledge and basic skills that will give you the confidence to continue with your future quilting ventures. (You do need to have a basic working knowledge of your sewing machine’s operation for this class. You should be able to thread your machine, set it for a straight stitch, and know how to wind its bobbins.)

We are excited to welcome a new teacher to the Quilt Tree.  Dora is originally from Dillingham where she learned Qaspeq (commonly known phonetically as "Kuspuk") making at a young age.  In this three part class, Dora will be teaching the Yup'ik way of measuring for accuracy, she will help you find your particular reference size that can be used for any pattern alteration and she will share her cultural knowledge of the Qaspeq.  You will come away from this class with a drop shoulder Qaspeq and a pattern that fits you which can be used over and over.
