Sharon Richards
Sunday - February 19, 26, March 5 & 12
1:00pm – 2:30pm
Beginner II
$40.00
Now you know the basics of wool applique. You know how relaxing it is to sit and hand-sew. It is even more fun when you do it with other wool applique enthusiasts! This is a time to come and bring your current projects to share and to start practicing new stitches. Sharon’s first ten wool applique pieces, some of them rather large, were made with only two stitches: the blanket stitch and the French knot. She is not yet an expert in stitchery (and is no Sue Spargo) so envisions this new class as one for class participation: those who want to share what new stitches they have learned with others. If you’d rather just socialize and work on your pieces, this class is for you. Welcome back!

Susan is originally from Nome and started making Kuspuks over 10 years ago. She has learned from many people, including Dora Andrew-Ihrke who previously taught Qaspeq (Kuspuk) making at the Quilt Tree. To help ensure that your Kuspuk will be a good fit she’ll have prototype Kuspuks for trying on and patterns to use/copy. She will also teach traditional ways of measuring that she learned from Dora. These can be used as sizing guidelines for making future Kuspuks for your friends and family. You will come away from this class with a drop shoulder Kuspuk and a pattern of your size.
